Position Summary
To support St. Joseph High School in its mission, the Director of Advancement will be directly responsible for successfully leading, expanding, and implementing a comprehensive advancement program, including the school’s annual fund, the St. Joseph Fund. This Director of Advancement manages a substantial portfolio of active prospects with top-giving capacities for purposes of identifying and qualifying new prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and closing gifts, as well as stewarding donors. Additionally, this position will be responsible for creating a balance between a robust major gifts program, direct mail, and special Events and accountable for leading St Joseph High School’s future capital campaign(s).
The Director of Advancement is a member of the senior administrative team, reports directly to the President, and monitors overall giving. The Director will also collaborate with a Major Gifts Officer as well as the school’s Board of Directors to support fundraising that helps the school fulfill its mission. The Director will act as the Advancement office liaison to the Board of Directors.
Essential Job Functions:
- Strengthen donor engagement and cultivation, increasing support specifically from parents and alumni, and growing the culture of philanthropy, including student philanthropy.
- Devise and execute a strategy with segmentation to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors (alumni, parents, parents of alumni, friends) to the St. Joseph Fund to increase dollars raised and the number of donors in giving society levels, increase the visibility of giving societies; cultivate a strong pipeline of support.
- Design, implement, and maintain a Moves Management plan for a robust portfolio(s) of prospects with strategies for each advancement program area, in particular, the annual appeal and major gift program.
- Provide leadership, planning, mentorship, and evaluation of and for the Advancement office and staff with clarity of purpose of each role.
- Responsible for the Advancement budget.
- In collaboration with the Marketing & Communication Department, the Director of Advancement is responsible for creating the year-long calendar as well as at least two direct mail appeal efforts.
- Work closely with the President, Administrative Team, and Board Advancement Committee to articulate institutional needs and lead the growth and implementation of the advancement strategy and initiatives.
- Collaborate with the CFO and advancement staff to develop and produce regular analytic reports for the President that communicate fundraising activities and goals.
- Work with the Advancement Committee, including identifying, recruiting, and training new volunteers; empower volunteers to increase support for St Joseph High School.
- Coordinate efforts on planned giving to ensure consistent communication about gift planning and leverage non-traditional gifts to meet fundraising goals.
- Institute and oversee a foundation and grant program to secure additional funding beyond individual donors.
- Manage to plan and execute a stewardship program for donors, including recognition of loyalty, leadership, and volunteer service.
- Work with the Advancement team to ensure coordinated, synchronized efforts during the solicitation and stewardship cycle.
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned; travel required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (required); Master’s Degree preferred
- Professional certification (CFRE) preferred
- A minimum of five years in planning and administering advancement programs
- Demonstrated fundraising success within a comprehensive advancement program
- Previous engagement and collaboration with both staff and Board members
- Experience working with C-level executives
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Suite as well as an understanding of Raiser’s Edge, Donor Search
- Evening/weekend work is occasionally required, as well as travel
- Valid driver’s license

Position Summary
St. Joseph High School seeks an entrepreneurial and innovative Major Gifts Officer to help catalyze the organization’s continued philanthropic growth. This position reports directly to the President. The Major Gifts Officer will cultivate and solicit philanthropic gifts to support St. Joseph High School and assist with raising the $18+MM goal of our Onward, With Purpose Capital Campaign. In addition to identifying and managing a portfolio of current and new prospects and qualified donors, the Major Gifts Officer will build a donor pipeline, implement cultivation strategies, solicit major gifts ($100,000+), and effectively steward donors. Working directly with the President and closely with colleagues on the Advancement Team, as well as teammates across the institution, the Major Gifts Officer will develop, execute, evaluate, and refine strategies for assigned prospects to maximize their support potential.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage a portfolio of individual prospects and donors using moves management strategies and evidence-based philanthropic best practices; develop ongoing relationships with these prospects and donors throughout the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship process with the goal of soliciting and closing gifts of $100,000+.
- Identify new prospects through research and data mining; cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects to meet specific activity goals.
- Collaborate with President, Director of Advancement, and Board Members, as appropriate, to set goals, expectations, and objectives.
- Work collaboratively and strategically with Advancement staff, President, and volunteers to cultivate and solicit donors for major and planned gifts (including multi-year commitments), ensuring regular and systematic contact by the appropriate school representative.
- Develop the prospect visit schedule for the President, Board Members, and volunteers; assign follow up actions to ensure timely follow-up for all donor visits and activity of the President. Accompany the President or Board Member on donor visits where appropriate.
- Establish tailored, individual fundraising plans, which will include a full range of donor cultivation activities such as school tours, receptions, bespoke donor experiences, and large and small private gatherings.
- Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Team to have the necessary tools to promote school priorities with prospective donors.
- Assure that all major donors have an appropriate stewardship plan in place and fully implemented. Monitor all donor and prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations.
- Oversee the tracking of all assigned prospects’ information in Raiser’s Edge.
- Leverage exceptional interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills to craft effective solicitation letters and proposals.
- Demonstrated experience in writing effective donor communications and a deep understanding of the philanthropic landscape and key donor networks in Fairfield County.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required; Masters preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of proven success in individual fundraising, with a track record of securing six-figure gifts.
- Demonstrated experience in donor pipeline development, major gifts solicitation, and stewardship.
- Experience or exposure to corporate fundraising, foundations, and grant writing is a plus.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with experience crafting compelling donor proposals and presentations.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Suite as well as an understanding of Raiser’s Edge and Donor Search.
- Willingness to travel as needed for donor cultivation and stewardship.

Position Summary
The Database Manager is a fully integrated member of the Advancement team, reports to the Director of Advancement, and works closely with the Special Events, Donor, and Alumni Relations Manager.
The ideal candidate will gain valuable experience in the areas of development and fundraising; event coordination and management; alumni relations; and community relations in a faith-based, nonprofit environment.
Essential Job Functions
- Database Administration
- Manage Raiser’s Edge database and keep it secure and clean by developing and implementing Best Practices re: policies, procedures, and controls.
- Responsible for processing gifts daily, maintaining donor information accuracy, restricted designations, soft credits, and cleaning operations.
- Prepares stewardship letters for donors, including for events.
- Works with the Director of Advancement and the Chief Financial Officer to reconcile donations.
- Assist Special Events Manager with preparation for fundraising events as needed (mailing lists, name tags, etc).
- Sorts the Office of Advancement mail; scans, and shares the gift back-up.
- Manages donor/alumni database and keeps it secure and clean by developing policies, procedures, and controls.
- Export of data from Facts to Raisers Edge database.
- Maintain office services by organizing office operations and procedures, designing filing systems, and keeping track of general office supplies.
- Updates professional skills annually.
- Administrative projects and other duties as assigned.
- Prospect Management and Research
- Conducts donor research to identify current and potential donors.
- Analyzes incoming parents annually to identify prospects for the fundraising pipeline, assign ratings as appropriate.
- Prepares summaries of current and historical relationships with the organization, if any, as well as potential and propensity to donate.
- Works with the Advancement team to strategize, identify, and rank individual donor and organizational prospects within Raiser’s Edge.
- Develops and prepares detailed profiles and reports including biographical and business information, financial assets, areas of interest, philanthropic support, and affiliations.
- Supports moves management process with regular reports and assistance with analysis.
- Remains current and fully informed on prospect management and research trends and available resources in the field.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Four years of experience in a related field. Experience in an educational institution preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Donor Search, or similar prospect research database, Raiser’s Edge preferred.
- Blackbaud Certification in Raiser’s Edge (b-CRE or b-CRE-Pro) preferred.
- Applicant must be intuitive, tech-oriented, and a self-starter.
- Ability to work across departments to accomplish tasks at hand.

Driver - Student Activity Vehicle
Student Activity Vehicle Driver (Weekends, Per Diem)
St Joseph High School is currently seeking a driver for our Student Activity Vehicle to work on a per-diem basis on the weekends. Applicants would be in charge of providing safe transport for high-school aged students to and from towns in Connecticut.
Duties & Responsibilities
St Joseph High School School Activity Vehicle Drivers interact daily with our students and serve as their trusted transportation to and from school. Candidates must be free of any traffic or criminal violations and have a strong understanding of traffic laws. Candidates must:
- Ensure the safety of all students
- Obey all traffic laws
- Maintain a clean and sound bus at all times, as well as report any mechanical issues
- Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route
- Attend safety meetings as required
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Active Commercial Driver’s License
- A clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years
- At least one year’s experience driving a school bus
- Experience working with high-school aged children is preferred
