Staff Opportunities
Driver - Student Activity Vehicle
Student Activity Vehicle Driver (Weekends, Per Diem)
St Joseph High School is currently seeking a driver for our Student Activity Vehicle to work on a per-diem basis on the weekends. Applicants would be in charge of providing safe transport for high-school aged students to and from towns in Connecticut.
Duties & Responsibilities
St Joseph High School School Activity Vehicle Drivers interact daily with our students and serve as their trusted transportation to and from school. Candidates must be free of any traffic or criminal violations and have a strong understanding of traffic laws. Candidates must:
- Ensure the safety of all students
- Obey all traffic laws
- Maintain a clean and sound bus at all times, as well as report any mechanical issues
- Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route
- Attend safety meetings as required
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Active Commercial Driver’s License
- A clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years
- At least one year’s experience driving a school bus
- Experience working with high-school aged children is preferred

Admission Counselor
St. Joseph High School Admission Counselor
Position Summary:
The Admission Counselor reports to Director of Marketing and Enrollment Management. Serving as a first contact, operations manager, and representative of St. Joes to prospective students and families, the Admission Counselor must communicate an in-depth knowledge of the school's mission, internal data and admission operations, and overall differentiated value proposition throughout the recruitment process. The Admission Counselor will serve as an essential collaborator in the enrollment process for freshman, transfer and international students including: recruitment, application completion, internal data analysis, yield events, enrollment guidance and onboarding.
Responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Oversee the current Student Information System (SIS) and workflow processing system, while maintaining the integrity and security of admissions data.
- Lead the development, maintenance and analysis of recruitment and enrollment metrics to inform future success including demographic trends, prospect data, and recruitment event outcomes in order to strengthen the institution's enrollment strategies.
- Perform archival and record management processes of both electronic and paper-based data.
- Supervise the assembly of applications in preparation for review, processing of admission decisions and notification to applicants about application status, including decision notification.
- Implement and manage communication workflows for all changes in status and relevant communications with prospective students and applicants from inquiry to enrollment, including the management of admission decision notification.
- Serve as a first contact and primary representative of St. Joes to prospective students and families, communicating an in-depth knowledge of the school's mission, academic and co-curricular programs, and overall differentiated value proposition throughout the recruitment process.
- Attend recruitment functions to represent St. Joes including school visits, fairs, alumni events, church activities, etc. Travel will consist of approximately 8-12 weeks, including evening and weekend commitments, concentrated in the fall and spring.
- Engage prospective students and families in ongoing communication through in person/online meetings, email, written correspondence, and phone calls. Maintain a strong customer service orientation with timely responses to inquiries and questions.
- Review and evaluate admissions applications and make admissions decisions based on students' ability to be successful at St. Joes in conjunction with the school's strategic enrollment goals.
- Assist/execute in the planning and logistics of all admissions events and visit experiences (i.e. Open Houses, Orientation, Entrance Exam, Scholarship Reception, Tours, Shadow visits, etc.).
- Assist in the planning and coordination of the department's master calendar with relation to recruitment events, campus visit programs, correspondence and other enrollment activities.
- Serve as an active member of the admissions team and financial aid committee, contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to achieve the school's enrollment goals.
- Seek professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in recruitment and retention of students.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Enrollment Management
Qualifications
- College or high performing independent school admission experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Database management and Excel experience
- Attention to detail, project management, event management, and data analysis skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet simultaneous deadlines
- Excellent communication skills including public speaking experience

Director of College & School Counseling
St. Joseph High School Director of College and School Counseling
St. Joseph High School is a co-ed, Catholic college preparatory school of 750 students in Trumbull Connecticut. The College and School Counseling Office has five counselors, a licensed clinical social worker, a registrar, and strategic support staff.
The primary responsibilities of the Director are to ensure the office provides a comprehensive and efficient high school College Counseling program as well as appropriate social-emotional services to all students and their families.
The Director of College and School Counseling reports directly to the President and works collaboratively with the Principal, the Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction, Academic Council, and the Dean of Student Life.
Qualifications:
- The Director will have a master’s degree in counseling, experience with college admissions, and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Three-plus years of experience in college counseling, preferably with an independent school, and/or in a college’s admission office;
- Extensive and current knowledge of the college application and admission process, the college financial aid process, and NCAA eligibility and recruitment regulations;
- Ability to counsel students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds and with varying learning styles and academic abilities;
- Knowledge of and experience with facilitating appropriate social-emotional-services for high school students
The Director of College and School Counseling Will:
- Oversee a team of college counselors, including two Freshmen Counselors, as well as an administrative assistant
- Plan and implement college counseling programs and events for students and families to assist them in planning for college;
- Coordinate events/workshops for the College Counselors to expand their knowledge on best practices, including letters of recommendation and college essay writing
- Oversee and guide the faculty writing of requested recommendations for students applying to college
- Create and implement a transition success program for transfer students
- Manage a reduced caseload of students through the college application process
- Create and communicate to students, parents, and faculty an accurate calendar of the college admission process: applications, essay workshops, software training, recommendations, testing dates, financial aid workshops (FAFSA), college visits, available scholarships, etc. and provides professional development for the counselors and faculty related to college admissions (NACAC)
- Oversee visits to colleges and college fairs;
- Oversee visits from college representatives to the School’s campus
- Ensure a balanced and equitable caseload of students among counselors
- Oversee accurate transitional and permanent records of student performance
- Build and cultivate strong relationships with college admission offices throughout the United States and abroad Oversee and approve appropriate learning accommodations
- Supervise academic achievement awards and related graduation activities
- Work effectively with the Office of Admissions and the Office of Communications to accurately and regularly market the school and share college-related news, including updates to the College Counseling website Represent the school at official functions relating to the educational community
- Support and promotes the Catholic Identity and educational mission of the school
- Perform other duties as assigned by the President as appropriate to the position.
This is a 12-month leadership position with a competitive salary and a start date of July 1, 2023.
