Gymnasium 2020

Gymnasium & Vito Montelli Court (On-Campus)

Completely renovated in 2020, St. Joe's Gymnasium is named after Vito Montelli, whose legendary coaching career lasted more than a half-century at St. Joes.

The renovation included: replacing and installing new floors, overhauling and redesigning the bleachers, introducing brighter and energy-efficient lighting, and installing a new air conditioning system.

The gymnasium is home to our Basketball, Cheerleading, Volleyball, and Wrestling Teams.

HealthandWellness-1

Health & Wellness Center (On-Campus)

In 2018, St. Joseph High School officially opened our 4,500 square foot fitness center. In addition to offering students a great place to exercise during their free time, the Center soon became a place where students could simply be themselves - feeling comfortable and safe as they aimed toward a lifetime goal of fitness and well-being - whether they are athletes or not. At the Health & Wellness Center, students learn how to safely navigate the machinery and equipment, create a basic fitness routine for themselves, and learn how proper nutrition can drastically change their lives. We strive to ensure that all students understand the incredible feats their bodies are capable of accomplishing.

St. Joseph High School partners with KMK Fit Training, LLC to provide strength and conditioning training for all of our student-athletes. KMK Fit Training is one of Fairfield County’s premier health and performance facilities. They will provide collegiate and professional level strength and conditioning services for all 50 of our athletic teams and oversee fitness programming for all students, regardless of athletic commitment.

Track & Field 2

The Jeffrey Moonan Track (On-Campus)

Our lower turf field is surrounded by The Jeffrey Moonan Track. The track is home to our Girls Indoor Track & Field, Girls Outdoor Track & Field, Boys Indoor Track & Field, and Boys Outdoor Track & Field.

The track was recently renovated in the summer of 2022 when SJ installed a collegiate-level double layer track system. This softer track surface has increased buoyancy which will protect our student-athletes’ bodies as they train and compete.

The track also features a double reverse start and finish line to accommodate weather conditions and wind (if the wind is blowing in one direction, the students can direct events to run with wind instead of against it).

As a three-sport athlete at St. Joes, it was important that I find the right balance between my school life and my athletic life. My teachers and coaches were so supportive and they truly make me feel like they want me to succeed - whether that's on the field, on the court, or in the classroom. They really work together to help you achieve your goals.Sean Curley '23
