CT JV State Tournament

3/8/20 #3 Cadets beat #1 Notre Dame of West Haven Green Knights in the Championship at Danbury Ice Arena. Cadets jumped all over the Knights with 3 goals in the first period to take a quick 3-0 Lead. Goals by Johnny Karafa assisted by Joey Bisson, Mark Husted Edwards assisted by Johnny McNabola, and Karafa with a second goal assisted by Husted-Edwards. This proved to be all they would need offensively as the defense took over as the cadets fought off several short handed situations in route to a 3-2 win. Tyler Steiwing was sensational in net as he kept the Knights frustrated all game. The Cadets wins vs the #1 and #2 seeds came in less than 18 hours. SJ Cadets were the first champions in the inaugural season for the CT JV State Tournament.

3/7/20 #3 Cadets beat #2 Fairfield Prep 5-4 in the semi-final matchup. Cadets score 1st with a goal by Timmy Finkenzeller assisted by Mark Husted-Edwards. As both defenses played well, Husted-Edwards makes it 2-0 with a shot from the point assisted by Joey Bisson. Prep answered back with a goal to make it 2-1. Cadets come right back with a goal by Trevor Kellogg, assisted by Johnny Karafa and Finkenzeller. As the solid defenses held the game at 3-1 half way into the 3rd period, Prep finds 3 quick goals in a 3 minute span and takes a 4-3 lead. With just under two minutes remaining, Bisson finds the back of the net to tie the game 4-4, assisted by Kellogg and Husted-Edwards. As the final seconds of the 3rd period wind down, Cadets put pressure on Prep in their zone and with 30 seconds remaining Patrick Henry get the winning goal with a tip off a shot from defenseman Kellogg. Tyler Steiwing continued his brilliant play in net and picked up 38 saves. Onto the finals!

3/5/20 #3 Cadets start State Tournament strong. After a 1st round bye, the Cadets took on #6 Fairfield Coop and left little doubt who would be moving on with a 6-0 win. A Hat Trick from Joey Bisson, 2 goals and an assist from Mark Husted-Edwards, and Johnny Karafa with a goal on a nice assist from Trevor Kellogg rounded out the scoring. Good defense and a great night between the pipes for Tyler Steiwing in the shutout win.
