Class Trips

Freshman Class Trip

2018's Freshman Class Trip was held October 27-28, 2018. The class went to Gettysburg  & Philadelphia where students learned American History, made new friends, and created lasting memories!

Sophomore Class Trip - 3/9-3/11

This year's Sophomore Class trip to Washington, D.C. was held March 9-11, 2019. Here are a few of our students' reactions:

"I had the time of my life. I have not been able to hang out with most sophomore class this year because my honors classes are mostly juniors and that has made me really sad this year but I got the chance to hang out with everyone on the trip and it was so much fun! I wish we had class trips every weekend. I can not think of my favorite part of the trip because I loved most of it but honestly the bus rides and hanging out with the sophomore class were the best parts."
~ Chloe Mattison

"Thank you so much for organizing such an amazing class trip. I honestly had a great time and would go back in a heartbeat. I was able to get closer with some of my classmates and create memories I will never forget. One moment I appreciated was going to mass as a whole. I really enjoyed taking some time out of our trip to dress in our best and listen to such a beautiful mass all together. The Church was also beautiful and there was a detail to notice on the ceiling every time you were to look up."
~ Nina Pizzicarola

"The trip was awesome. My favorite part was the basilica. The church was the most amazing church I have ever been in and I had a good time exploring it after mass. Overall, I made a lot of memories on the trip that I don’t think I’ll forget. Everyone was having a good time and there was something for everybody."
~ Eric Burbank

"I truly enjoyed the trip to Washington this past weekend. My favorite part had to be the boat cruise and oddly enough the 2 hour detour at the rest stop. Having the chance for all of us to be together and have fun while spreading our SJ cheer was an amazing experience."
~ Grace Hickey

"This trip was a truly memorable experience. My favorite part of the trip was visiting the US Capitol. The building contained some of the most beautiful architecture I’ve seen. Also, the history I learned was amazing. Overall, it was a phenomenal experience and a great trip."
~ Preston Kral

"The sophomore trip to Washington DC was super fun. It brought me closer to people I didn't expect it to. Being in groups of people made me branch out and feel more connected to the SJ community. I had fun at all of the locations we visited and the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception brought me closer to God. Overall had a really fun time with everyone on the Washington DC Sophomore trip."
~ Jack Fearnley

"I thought the trip was great and the Orioles stadium tour added something different that I think was fun for a lot of students."
~ Sydney Leifer

Welcome Week begins one week prior to the start of classes. All students are required to arrive in uniform. An official Welcome Week Schedule will be emailed, but during the orientation, you will be able to:

  • Log in and test drive your Plus Portal. We can also assist you during orientation. Each student must have their iPad charged and ready for use on the SJ network for the first day of school!
  • Review the school calendar, freshman guide opportunity, community service, fall sports schedule, and our list of 50+ clubs!
  • Receive your class schedules.

A Few Quick Tips for Parents:

  • When you drop your student off, please make sure to use the "drop off" lane that directs you to the gym lot. The gym entrance will be open for use.  All buses will be in service beginning the first day of classes.
  • There is no school supply list for students, apart from the iPad. Some teachers may require a specific item to be used in class, and if so, this will be discussed during class specific orientations. Please wait to purchase additional supplies until discussed in class.

Back to School Night

Pep Rallies

Fall, Winter, & Spring - Click here to view our current SJ calendar.

St Joes Prep Rallies are a powerful demonstration of our community and a great show of support for our athletic teams. During the pep rally, individual teams are introduced and cheered on!

And it wouldn't be a St Joes Pep Rally if we didn't end with a singing of our Alma Mater and Battle of the Classes!

Spirit Week

Typically in October - Click here to view our current SJ calendar.

St Joseph High School's Student Council works hard to bring new initiatives and excitement to each year's Spirit Week! During one week in the Fall, each day is themed and all students are encouraged to participate.  Past themes have included: Get Your Pink On (Dress Down Day to support cancer awareness); Hawaiian Day; and Color Wars.

Spirit Week activities also include our Annual Walk-a-thon, Field Day, and Powder Puff Game (see below).

At the end of each Spirit Week, SJ Cadets celebrate at our homecoming assembly, game, and dance!

Lace up your sneakers and get ready to walk!

Each year, the St Joes community joins together to have some fun while raising money for the school. This is the sole student-based fundraiser to benefit the school, so participation is both expected and appreciated. All money raised supports our school’s mission and provides funding for St Joes academics, athletics, and physical improvements to school.

Past contributions include air conditioning in the Cold & Hot Food Cafeterias (Classes of 2010, 2011 & 2014 ), the completion of the SJ Broadcasting Room (Class of 2012), the remodeling of the Kenny Commons (2015), and the building of the new Health & Wellness Center (2016). Walkathon has a rich history of more than 30 years.

Prior to Walkathon, there will be collection days in student homerooms with fun incentives and prizes.

Students and parents should also check PlusPortals regularly for up-to-date announcements and forms regarding Walkathon. If you have any questions regarding the walk or would like to volunteer, please contact Mr. Michael Pappa at

Field Day

Field Day typically takes place during Spirit Week and after SJ's Walkathon.

During Field Day, students are broken up by class year and participate in various activities around campus. Past activities have included: tug of war, egg toss, musical chairs (featuring our live student band), and a BBQ.

Powder Puff Game

Kairos Retreat

Beginning 2018, St Joes is pleased to offer a new retreat opportunity for juniors and seniors. Our Kairos Retreat is modeled off the Ignatian Kairos model.

Kairos is a student-led retreat that helps participants understand their relationship to God, themselves, and others on a deeper level through:  senior Peer Minister witness talks;  faculty witness talks; and small group discussions.

For more information on our Kairos Retreat, or to register, click here.

Jeopardy: Students vs Faculty

Times Vary Throughout the Year

The Jeopardy Club is fairly new at St Joes, but that doesn't make it any less popular!

Twice a year, students will challenge faculty/staff to a real-time game! Questions are designed for high school students and come from past Jeopardy Teen Tournaments.

St Joseph Feast Day

Typically on March 19 - Click here to view our current SJ calendar.

Celebrating The Feast of St Joseph is one of our most cherished traditions. Classes are cancelled, and instead all students, faculty, and staff take part in a day-long celebration that includes Mass, service projects, and various engaging activities for our students.

The day typically begins with our Grandparents Mass and reception. All Grandparents of current SJ students are invited.

Students are then divided into groups and rotate around the school to different stations: three of which will always included meal-packing, creating Easter baskets, and a street festival lunch.

Mr Student Body

Date Varies - Click here to view our current SJ calendar.

Mr Student Body is a St Joes tradition that has been around for more than 10 years! Senior Boys are encouraged to sign up and showcase their dancing skills, individual talents, and trivia expertise as they compete for the title of "Mr Student Body."

Mr Student Body strengthens friendships while raising awareness and funding for The Center of Family Justice.

Dodgeball Tournament

There are few events as exciting as our Dodgeball Extravaganza!

The tournament does have a fee per team (consisting of 10 people - 4 female students, 4 male students, 1 female faculty/administrator/coach, 1 male faculty/administrator/coach). Teams are often mixed from different grades and members can only be on one roster.

During the tournament, each team is guaranteed to play 2 matches. Each match is 5 minutes in length. The top team in each pool will advance to the playoff round which will be single elimination.
