Cadets: St. Joseph High School is planning an educational tour of Italy during spring break (April 9-18, 2026)!
This is a cultural immersion tour with the intention of enriching students’ educational experience. Interested students are encouraged to join the interest meeting on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 2:20pm in Mr. Tyrell's Room (203).
Please note: Space is limited. Priority registration will be given to rising seniors. Eligibility to participate requires students to maintain a commendable academic record and exhibit exemplary behavior in accordance with school standards. Interested students must demonstrate both academic diligence, personal responsibility and integrity to be considered.
TENTATIVE ITINERARY
This exceptional 10-day itinerary offers a quintessential look at Italy with overnights in Rome, Sorrento, Florence and Venice
- Day 1: Departure from the USA
- Day 2: Rome. Welcome to Rome where the Tour Director will take us to our hotel. Later, we'll get better acquainted with Italy’s capital on a Walking Tour.
- Day 3: Rome. Discover the Eternal City with an expert guide on our morning sightseeing tour.
- We'll begin in Vatican City with visits to St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel to see Michelangelo’s superbly painted ceiling.
- We'll learn about the ancient Roman civilization as we see the Circus Maximus, Capitoline Hill, the Arch of Constantine, and the Roman Forum.
- The day's highlight will be a visit to the Colosseum.
- Day 4: Rome-Pompeii-Sorrento Coast. We'll follow the Highway of the Sun to Pompeii for an in-depth look at the ruins of this ancient Roman city buried for centuries by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Afterward, we'll take a scenic drive around the Bay of Naples en route to the romantic Sorrento Coast.
- Day 5: Sorrento Coast-Capri-Sorrento Coast. A short ferry ride will take us to the magical island of Capri where guided sightseeing includes a visit to the Gardens of Augustus. We'll have free time to savor the island’s magnificent natural scenery and stroll among the flower-decked villas.
- Day 6: Sorrento Coast-Florence. We'll journey north through the rolling hills of Umbria to Florence in the heart of Tuscany where four of the greatest names in Italian art, from Michelangelo to Leonardo da Vinci, have all lived and worked. We'll also enjoy a Florence walking tour in the evening.
- Day 7: Florence. Morning sightseeing shows us Florence’s Renaissance treasures: Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistry’s “Gates of Paradise,” the Piazza della Signoria, and the Church of Santa Croce where Machiavelli and Galileo are buried. Also included are visits to the Gothic Duomo and the Galleria dell’Accademia to see Michelangelo’s “David.” On your free time, visit the Uffizzi Gallery or stroll across the Ponte Vecchio.
- Day 8: Florence-San Gimignano-Venice. We'll stop in the small Tuscan town of San Gimignano to see its famous tiny medieval towers before heading north to Venice, “Jewel of the Adriatic.”
- Day 9: Venice. Sightsee Venice, including the Bridge of Sighs, the 14th-century Doges’ Palace, and bustling St. Mark’s Square, where you visit the beautiful Byzantine Basilica. The afternoon will take us on a gondola ride through the city’s famed canals.
- Day 10: Venice-Milan-Departure. Departure

TRAVEL COSTS
The total cost for this trip is $4,945. We are asking all interested students to deposit before October 30, 2025. If parents/students book their travel by October 30, 2025, they will save $100 on the cost of the trip. This cost will cover airfare, hotel, attraction fees, breakfast, and dinner. Students are responsible for the cost of lunch each day.
