Bowling
Team Information
The Bowling Team is a winter sport with participation by co-ed students through all grade levels. We are a member of the Connecticut Interscholastic Bowling League (CIBL) that consists of 8 schools. Our "House" is Nutmeg Bowl, where league days are Tuesday after school with practice held on Thursday starting at 3PM. The end of the season consists of a CIAC hosted state tournament held on the first weekend in March. Tryouts are held the week before Thanksgiving with the competitive season starting the Tuesday after Thanksgiving break
What does a typical match "League" day consist of?
The team is broken up into separate levels consisting of 5-person team(s) - Varsity, JVI, JVII (A&B) based on the average of the player from the week before. Try-outs are used to set the team roster averages initially.
The 5-Player team will then play another school's 5-Player team.
A match is considered three (3) games consisting of ten (10) frames.
Each game in the match is worth two (2) points, with total pinfall counting as one (1) point for a total of seven (7) points to be won. In the event of tie, each team splits the point(s).
Do I have to be a good bowler?
No! the main goal of the team is to have fun. Our coaches will work with you to improve your game and give you tips to become the best bowler you can be. The best part of the bowling team is it is very dynamic.
Your average from the previous week decides what team you bowl on the next week. Meaning one week you could be on Varsity, the next on JV or vice versa!
Think of each week as a competition not only between other schools, but with your teammates as well. You will always be placed on a team, but what level team is up to how you do personally. All we ask is that you try your best and have fun.
Transportation
Bus is provided to and from the school and alley. The bus leaves after school at 2:20 PM and returns between 5:45 PM and 6:20 PM
