Message from the Head of School
Welcome Class of 2021!
Note that we call you a “class”—as you will move through St Joes together. Please keep an eye out for each other. Also note, we call you the “ Class of 2021”—for as you are just getting your feet on campus, we are focused on where you’ll be in four years. Here’s the deal, you keep putting one foot in front of the other and we guarantee Graduation Day—Saturday 5 June 2021—will be a day filled with gratitude and good memories, enough to last a lifetime.
We talk a lot about family. Argue the definition if you like, but there is something of substance about this community of teachers and learners. No, we do not all look alike, think the same, or share the same goals. We disagree as much as any family. What we do well is encourage each other, and celebrate each other. Trust us, we have been at this for over fifty years. Our core virtues—faith, hope, and charity—nurture the best in each and every student.
We are at heart a Catholic college prep school. Our program cultivates those learning skills and that academic confidence essential to success at the next level. But we are also a program of discovery. The athletic fields and the performing arts are equally important to your development. Take some risks and try new things. It is safe to fail here—failing is a path to success. St Joes is a great place to be, and to become.
So, make yourself at home, and make the most of your days at St Joes.
Ite ad Josef,
William J Fitzgerald, PhD., M.Div.
