Athletics Welcomes Chris Nelson as Boys Ice Hockey Head Coach!

SJ Athletics is excited to announce Chris Nelson as the Head Coach for Varsity Boys Ice Hockey! Chris Nelson has stepped into the position after four seasons at St. Joseph’s as Assistant Coach. Him having worked inside the program for those years, should allow a smooth transition for the team. Eager to take on the additional responsibilities, Chris is looking forward to cementing the Cadets’ reputation as a top hockey program in the State.

For the past two years Chris has been coaching in the Darien Youth Hockey program, leading teams at U12, U14 and the U18 Midget Major team. While not coaching his travel teams, Chris runs skills sessions for their development focused league and at the Stamford Twin Rinks for their camps and clinics.

Prior to Darien, Chris led similar teams with the CT Riverhawks organization in Shelton. In addition to the CT Riverhawks, Chris ran skills clinics for the Development League at Shelton Rinks and many of the hockey camps there. Twelve years of private skill instruction for players from beginner to Division 1 college and professional levels gives him the skills-based focus that is required to help players excel both individually and as a team.
