As part of their final, Genetics Honors 1 students visited St James School (Stratford) and St Theresa (Trumbull) to teach the 6th - 8th grade students a 40-minute lesson in genetics. The lessons covered the basics of DNA structure and function and Mendelian Genetics. After the lessons were completed the students at each school gathered to review what was learned and then build what they would interpret to be a model student at their school. At this point the Genetics students opened discussion on the types of Characteristics that DNA doesn’t code for such as kindness, patience, friendliness, spirituality, integrity etc. Once every student had the opportunity to contribute badges with these characteristics were placed on the student models created by SJ Genetics students these models were left at the schools. The feedback from both schools  and the Genetics Students has been extremely positive.

Also as part of the Genetics final students created web pages on Google Sites and wrote a text book chapter which was uploaded to the web page. The web pages were shared with the teachers at St Theresa and St James.

Way to go, Cadets!
