St. Joseph High School is proud to announce that on Saturday, June 1, 2024, the school conferred diplomas upon 188 students who boast a 100% college acceptance rate.
The 2024 Commencement was held on the school’s Dalling Field. Parents, siblings, and friends honored graduates with an abundance of love an excitement for their perseverance and determination throughout this school year. During the ceremony, graduates heard from distinguished leaders: Ms. Vicki A Tesoro, First Selectman (Town of Trumbull), Mr. Christopher Wilson, Chairman of the Board (St. Joseph High School); and Dr. Steven Cheeseman, Superintendent of Schools (Diocese of Bridgeport). Remarks and prayers to the Class of 2024 were marked with an overwhelming sense of pride.
In addition, James Murano and Erin Lovett, this year’s Valedictorian and Salutatorian respectively, shared inspiring and heartfelt words with their peers in reflection of their high school journey. “We should not fear failure, but rather embrace the possibilities that each new day presents,” reflected Valedictorian, James Murano, who delivered the Farewell Address. “That's the beauty of our motto. We will get up tomorrow, we will try again, because we are St. Joes, and we will win every single day.”
Salutatorian, Erin Lovett also shared, “Our senior class, the Class of 2024, is a team I am proud to be a member of and a team I look forward to celebrating. We have accomplished truly incredible things, and our success did not come with ease. We have faced many obstacles in our time here, but continue to meet each with strong morals, brave hearts, and open minds.”
“We are all gathered here this morning to celebrate you and to share in this momentous occasion,” remarked President David Klein. “For the past four years, I have watched you – masked and unmasked – confront challenges and uncertainty with confidence and determination. You have demonstrated maturity and resolve well beyond your years.”
