St. Joseph High School softball coach Jeff Babineau won his 300th career game on Monday, as No. 9 St. Joseph defeated Norwalk 3-2.
Babineau, who has been the head coach of the program since 2010, has a career record of 300-63.
"This is my 16th season, minus one of COVID, and honestly I never really started thinking about the total number of wins," Babineau said. "I just focused on each year and each game. It has been fun."
He has led the team to two CIAC state titles (2010 and 2018) and to four state championship games.
He has also led St. Joseph to five FCIAC titles in six years from 2014-2019, and has reached the championship game eight times.
"Your state championships are always the best," Babineau said. "I remember our first FCIAC championship back in 2014, that was big. Each championship is different and exciting."

It was announced in December of last year that Babineau will be inducted into the FCIAC Hall of Fame this June.
St. Joseph (8-2) is off to a strong start this season, with Katie Dzialo leading the way in the circle and MacKenzie Caouette, Kelsea Flanagan, and McKenna Stratton leading the offensive production.
"This team is a little different than teams I have had in the past," Babineau said. "We used to have a lot of power and home run hitters, this year we have a lot of spray hitters, a lot of lefties and a lot of speed. Our approach this year has been a little different, getting people on and moving them around."
