JC Sanzone '19 Competes in US Rowing Youth Nationals Competition!

Last week, JC Sanzone, a rising senior, traveled to Folsom, CA in order to compete in the US Rowing Youth Nationals Championships!

This event is held for the top three boats from each regional and state championship. Sanzone earned a bronze medal in the heavyweight double at Northeast Regionals, thus earning him this spot. After a week of races he made into the top semifinal race, where he and his double partner, Alex Williams Tufts, defeated some of the nations best crews to place 11th in the nation!!

This was all done through Maritime Rowing Club, a family owned business on the Norwalk River. They have won 5 successive Quad championships, and dozens of other heavyweight and lightweight accolades. They are coached by former Soviet National Team coaches, as well as Dan Walsh, a bronze medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Rowing is truly a life long pursuit, pushing athletes to their physical and mental limits, all the while instilling valuable life lessons in perseverance, and friendship.
