We are so proud to share that Jessica Mazo '19 has been named a United Soccer Coaches High School All-American for the third year in a row. In addition, she has been named their 2018 National Player of the Year!

“We are proud to have so many students at St Joes who embody the spirit of the school – both academically and athletically – but Jessica, she is truly something,” remarked Dr William Fitzgerald, Head of School. “She’s a whiz in the classroom, incredibly focused on the field, and a genuinely virtuous person at heart.”

In addition to a slew of soccer accolades (including FCIAC Girls Soccer Champion, 3-year All-State Selection, 3-year All-Region Selection, CHSCA Girls Soccer Player of the Year, and Captain of the Girls Varsity Soccer Team both her junior and seniors years), Mazo is also a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, English Honor Society, and currently carries a GPA of 96.8. In addition, she is a member of St Joe’s Multicultural Club, Zumba Club, and spends her free time volunteering at the Cesar A. Batalla School in Bridgeport.

“She’s one of the best players I’ve seen in my twenty years at St Joes,” remarked Jack Nogueira, SJ Soccer Coach. “She works non-stop in the off-season, constantly hones her skills on the ball, and has a determination to win that is unmatched.”

Jessica Mazo has committed to play Division I Soccer at UCONN in the Fall. Meghan Loughman (Loughman Films), St Joes JV Girls Soccer Coach, created a highlight reel of Jessica Mazo. Watch the video below!
