Junior Cadets Win Veterans Day Scholarships!
Please join us in congratulation Lindsay Giovannone '20 and Brian Melanson '20, who were each awarded $500 Scholarships by the The WorkPlace at Port Five Naval Veterans Bridgeport CT for their essays on the importance of Veterans Day!
On Thursday, November 1, Mrs Cellini had the pleasure of attending the 2018 Valor Awards presented by The WorkPlace alongside Lindsay, Brian, and their parents.
Mrs Cellini writes, "I was extremely proud of Lindsay and Brian as they read their essays for approximately two hundred people. They were composed, confident and well spoken. Each of them spoke at length with the keynote speaker and were perfectly at ease. Last night these two students truly represented what model St Joes students are."
We send out thanks as well to the SJ English Department, for recognizing the value of this type of endeavor. Particularly Tanya and her students who had over 30 submissions and thanks also to Eileen for her student submissions and her support throughout this process.
