Maddie Fried '21 has been nominated for the Female Soccer Player of the Year award for the inaugural USA Today High School Sports Award! The USA Today High School Sports Award show will stream starting Thursday, August 5th at 8pm, click here to watch.
Among her many awards over her career, Fried was also named the 2021 Gatorade CT Girls Soccer Player of the Year earlier this summer. As part of her award, Maddie was given the opportunity to donate $1,000 to the charity of her choice that offers sport related programs. She was introduced to the Bridgeport Caribe Youth Leaders (BYCL), an organization that helps over 350 families in Bridgeport. BYCL will be the recipients of Maddie's approved grant for $1,000.
BYCL's mission is to provide Bridgeport, Connecticut area youth with sports, educational and civic direction, helping them build the character and self-esteem they need to reach their full potential and value in society. This year we celebrate 17 years of serving and empowering families to strive for excellence. Sure sports is the magnet but once in our fold children are exposed to opportunities in education and civics. While we are about the growth of the individual we also encourage our youth to find out how they can make a difference in the community.
