Patch: Tell us a bit about your business or organization:

Jessica Costa: As the largest, Co-Educational, Catholic College Preparatory School in Connecticut St. Joseph High School gives all students the opportunity to learn and connect across cultures, religions, and borders in a faith-based community that joyfully welcomes all students, regardless of spiritual beliefs.

At St. Joseph High School, we help young men and women make the most of their high school experience. So much more than typical college prep, St. Joes prepares students to meet the challenges of the collegiate world and beyond through an experiential education that starts with aspirational academics and grows between the textbooks and the classrooms; between students and faculty mentors; between the locker room and the field; between faith, friendships, and family. Within the St. Joes halls, young women and men are given exceptional opportunities to seek out their talents, strive for greatness, serve the common good, and thrive with confidence.

Patch: How long have you been doing business in town, or how long has your organization been around in the community?

Costa: St. Joseph High School was founded in 1962 and celebrates its 60th Anniversary this year!

Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?

Costa: Co-Educational Catholic College Preparatory Community

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?

Costa: Our expectations of students are high at St. Joes, but their success is not left to chance — it is strategically planned beginning in Grade 9 with the Freshman Success Program. Our Cadets have access to unmatched support and guidance from their College and School Counselors. From individual and family counseling meetings, small group workshops and seminars, our multifaceted college and school counseling curriculum is designed to develop students into well adjusted, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent young adults. When Cadets graduate, they are well-rounded global citizens with the tools to succeed not only in college, but in life.
