Come Home to Joe
The following plan has been created in order to protect the students, faculty, and staff of St Joseph High School. It has been created with careful attention to executive orders, Center for Disease Control (CDC), State of Connecticut Office of the Governor and the Town of Trumbull Department of Health guidelines. This plan is subject to change as necessary. The health and safety of our community is of paramount importance.
Students will receive training on safety protocols during their first days of school in addition to general orientation activities. Topics to be discussed with students include: social distancing, mask wearing, proper handwashing, occupancy guidelines, staircase and hallway protocols, self-screening and signs of illness (as well as ways that students may not even realize they’re spreading germs: like sharing lockers, cellphones, notes, etc.).
This Family- School Partnership is an addendum to the Student-Parent Handbook. All students and families must read through both sets of documents and either sign and return the form, or fill out our online form below.
Please affirm that you have read these documents by September 3, 2020. Any questions can be directed to Mr Kavulich.
STUDENT SUCCESS & SUPPORT
Additional items will be added to this Student Success & Resource section. Be sure to return often!
When we first transitioned to remote learning, there were some students who immediately took to remote learning and some who struggled. The same went for our faculty and staff as we all adjusted to a new normal.
For the 2020-2021 school year, there may be times when St Joes will be fully or partly virtual. It is important to us that each of our students can have a successful academic career and high school experience, even while we're virtual. Here are some resources we think might help:
HEALTH & SAFETY
The health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and guests, if of the utmost priority. We ask that all parents join us in ensuring that their students do not come to school sick and are ready to adhere to all guidelines. We all have a shared responsibility to prevent the spread of illness.
To that end, we ask that all students, faculty/staff, and parents read through our School & Family Partnership (above). Once you and your student have read through the pledge, we ask that you fill out the form and submit it to St Joes prior to the start of school.
It is important to us that each of our students can have a successful academic career and high school experience, whether at home, or in the classroom.
The Athletic practice and game schedules, try out information, and parent resources are available at sjcadets.org/athletics and subject to change per CDC, State of Connecticut Office of the Governor and the Town of Trumbull Department of Health and CIAC guidelines.
- Students are encouraged to come to school for practice (whether they are scheduled to be at home or in school that day) if they are able via individual rides or carpool networks.
- Students will not be penalized if they are unable to find transportation. However, students will not be admitted to the building, they must arrive for practice only.
- Spectators will be allowed at games, but limited. A lanyard system will be implemented (each varsity player will receive two lanyards for spectators). More instructions will be given by each coach.
- JV and Freshman spectators are permitted, but limited. Please see your coach for details.
- Student spectators will not be permitted.
- Games will be streamed from the upper field and the gym. A subscription to NFHS is necessary. Additional information will come soon.
Updated Fall Calendar of Events
Dear SJ Community: In order to ensure the health and safety of our community, some of our Fall events will have to change. We are proud to offer virtual or alternative options for most of our events. We will update this page as often as we can. And rest assured - if your favorite event is missing in the fall, it has likely been postponed until the Spring - but we will be sure to keep our SJ traditions alive and well!
